I sent Kim to the pet store to buy some cat treats and maybe a toy since our cat is turning 3 on Tuesday. Well, no cat toy nor treats, but now we own a puppy named Brewer! He is tiny and very cute. Austrailian Shepherd and Labrador Mix. I don't think the cat likes her new present so far. We'll see how that goes.
Any tricks for getting them used to sleeping in a crate (kennel)?

Ohhhh so cute! That pup is going to be a smartie (those Aussie Shepards are so brilliant). Crate training = start them early!

Crate training for Charlie was pretty easy. It seems counter-intuitive, but he seemed to enjoy his personal space in the crate. I'd suggest not feeling bad about the fact it looks and acts like a tiny cage.
Get some Nature's Miracle. That stuff works, and plan on needing a lot.
Take lots of trips to the river.
Take LOTS of pictures. That can't be understated.

PS - If he's named Brewer, I propose "N. Shipley" for his middle/last names.
